Share Link Added to News Article

News Articles with the Include Share Links option enabled now have the option to add a link with custom text and URL after the existing Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and email icons.

In new News Articles, users will find two new options under the Byline section of the Page Properties/Parameters:

  • Share Link Text
  • Share Link Destination

These fields will allow the user to configure the text and URL for the new link.

Alternatively, the fields can be set site-wide or on a section-by-section basis using the following directory variables:

  • news-share-text
  • news-share-url

Another option would be to copy the fields from the Page Properties into the section's _props.pcf.

When the Include Share Links option is enabled, the order of precedence for these settings will be Page Properties/Parameters > _props.pcf > directory variables.

Possible Action Required

The fields will automatically be available on new News Articles (or NewsCenter Articles) when they are created. If you want to add these options to specific articles without applying them to the whole site or section, or need help applying them to your site/section, open a General Site/Page Update Request - Modern Campus CMS in ServiceNow.
