Page Templates
New Page, File, and Section Templates
Template groups are used to determine which new page templates are available within a given site or section in Modern Campus CMS. When a template group is assigned to a section, only the templates in that group will be available from the +New button within that section.
- The template group for a section can be assigned through the section's Access settings. (Access Settings on the Modern Campus Support site)
- The template groups themselves can be managed by navigating to Setup > Templates in the Modern Campus CMS menu. (Template Groups on the Modern Campus Support site)
By default, five template groups are created to organize the new page templates in Crimson:
- Crimson
- Crimson News
- Crimson People
- Crimson Programs
- Resources
The Crimson template group is assigned to the site and the Resources template group is assigned to the /_resources/ and /ou-alerts/ folders. New sections/folders inherit the parent section/folder's template group (or the site's template group when created in the root of the site).
Template groups include an option to enable the "New Folder" button. This option is only enabled in the Resources template group, as users often mistakenly create a new folder when they want to create a new section. The Resources template group does not include a template to create a new section, as it is not intended to be used for sections which will contain webpages.
The remaining template groups are intended to be assigned to sections which will house news, directory, and program finder functionality. We recommend opening a ticket in ServiceNow to have these sections created in your site, though any user with a user level of 8 or higher may be able to do it.

By default, the Crimson template group includes eight templates, though sites with the calendar module enabled may have nine. Some users will have access to fewer templates, depending on their group membership.
